LL Cool J had some pointed advice to Miranda Lambert after she ended up in the middle of controversy after a recent concert. Lambert humiliated some of her fans in attendance and then faced backlash for it. However, the rap legend had some solid advice on how to deal with the entire problem.
Here is what LL Cool J had to say to Miranda about the incident.
LL Cool J responds to Miranda Lambert concert situation
Last week, a video went viral of Miranda Lambert scolding some fans at a recent concert. At the concert during her Las Vegas residency, Miranda was singing her 2016 single “Tin Man” when she stopped in the middle of the song. Apparently, she saw some women in the audience turn to take a selfie of themselves with Miranda singing in the background, and the country singer didn’t like it.
Miranda stopped singing and pointed out the women who were taking the selfie during the song. She said they seemed more interested in taking a selfie than listening to the song. She said it was p*ssing her off and then said, “We’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country d*mn music.”
This led several fans to get up and leave the concert. One of the women involved in the selfie posted online that it was 30 seconds at most and they planned to take the selfie and then sit back down. They said they wanted one good picture when the lights were right of them together. She then compared it to being in school and getting scolded by the teacher.
However, LL Cool J said during an interview on Audacy’s Mercedes in the Morning radio show that Miranda needs to “get over it, baby.”
LL Cool J on fans at concerts
LL Cool J, who was a very successful rapper before he transitioned into acting, said that they are the fans. In the interview, he said that it is the singer’s job as an artist to create the art. He said that how the fans interact with the art is up to them. “If you want to come to my show and you want to sit there and eat a bowl of potato salad with a baseball hat down to your nose, that’s what you choose to do,” he said.
He then went on to say that you have to let the fans do what they want to do and not make rules. He emphasized that he was not judging Miranda Lambert. LL Cool J said she has a right to her feelings. However, when it comes to the fans, “let the fans be the fans and do what they want to do.”
