Chris Stapleton, like most country music artists, writes a lot of songs about alcohol. However, many of his fans wonder if he put down the bottle in real life. Recently, he spoke out about his relationship with drinking. So, what did he have to say about it? Read on for more details.
Alcohol Plays A Big Role In Country Music
As many country music fans know, country music and alcohol go together like peanut butter and jelly, cereal and milk, or macaroni and cheese. Some things in life just seem to go hand in hand. Country music and alcohol indeed fit that description.
Some of the most iconic songs ever written in the genre have alcohol as the main theme. Whether it’s drinking a beer in the backyard while grilling, or drowning your sorrows at the bottom of a bottle to get over a breakup, alcohol plays a big part in country music.
Some Of Chris Stapleton’s Biggest Hits Have Alcohol Themes
Like many country stars before him, some of Chris Stapleton’s most recognized hits revolve around alcohol themes. Of course, who can ever forget his take on Tennessee Whiskey? Even though Stapleton was an industry veteran before that song blew up, it more than put him on the map in terms of introducing him to mainstream audiences.
In addition, there’s also his song Whiskey and You, which was first made popular by Tim McGraw in 2007 before Stapleton eventually released his version of it on his debut solo record, Traveller, in 2015. Along with this, there are many other scattered references to spirits throughout Chris Stapleton’s body of work.
Did Tennessee Whiskey Singer Put The Bottle Down?
One issue that can arise when you draw inspiration from alcohol is the potential for it to have a negative impact on your daily life. In fact, many of Chris Stapleton’s fans want to know if the singer quit drinking for good. Recently, the megastar and perennial hitmaker spoke out, clarifying the relationship he has with alcohol in 2024.
According to Chris Stapleton, he said that he hasn’t quit drinking altogether. According to him, “I don’t drink as much as I used to”, the singer recently told Rolling Stone. Even though he is not sober by any means, he seems to have cut down on his drinking due to “more responsibilities and a lot less time for leisure.”

Even though Chris Stapleton is now older and a family man, he recently released his very own brand of Traveller whiskey. So, naturally, he had to taste-test it to make sure he got it just right. What do you think of Stapleton always singing about liquor? Has it just become part of his brand? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
