Kelly Clarkson has just revealed she has been facing additional health issues. In addition to her autoimmune issues and thyroid problems, she admitted to having been diagnosed with prediabetes. This diagnosis came before her remarkable weight loss.
Kelly Clarkson’s Reaction To Her Diagnosis
The “Because Of You” singer admitted she wasn’t shocked or even surprised by being diagnosed as prediabetic. Despite the health issues of becoming diabetic later, Kelly Clarkson wasn’t that concerned at the time her doctor informed her of her latest health issue. She knew she was a bit overweight, but didn’t see the need to make any dramatic lifestyle changes at the time.
“I’m not there yet,” was Kelly Clarkson’s response to the bad news from her doctor. Despite being told she was “right on the borderline,” the first-ever winner of American Idol did not do anything to lessen her chances of becoming diabetic. Instead, Clarkson waited to take action.
The Two-Year Wait
Kelly Clarkson waited two years to do something about her prediabetic condition. During those two years, she lived her life much like she always had. It appears she wasn’t ready to take control of her health.
One of the first steps Kelly Clarkson took in taking control of her health was losing weight. She said she “dropped weight” during this time. Clarkson gives credit to her doctors for her weight loss. She was able to drop the weight because she had started listening to her doctors.
Kelly Clarkson’s “Healthy Mix” Of Foods
Kelly Clarkson attributes, in part, her weight loss to eating a “healthy mix” of different foods. She admits to her love of protein. “I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat,” Clarkson stated.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer also admits she doesn’t follow a strict diet. She does “splurge” on occasion. Kelly Clarkson revealed she “had a frozen yogurt with my daughter, and it was magical.”
Moving Helped With Kelly Clarkson’s Health Issues
Kelly Clarkson also gives credit to her recent move from Los Angeles, California to New York City in helping her take control of her health. Living in New York City forced the “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” singer to walk more. Clarkson stated “Walking in the city is quite the workout.”
Reason Kelly Clarkson Took Control Of Her Health
The reason Kelly Clarkson took control of own health had little to do with her actual health. Instead, she admitted the changes in lifestyle and her work to become healthy were due to her children. Her children help her to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Kelly Clarkson has two children, her daughter River and son Remington. Their father is Brandon Blackstone, the former stepson of Reba McEntire. River is now nine years old. Remington is seven years old. They are the reason Clarkson is working harder to be healthier.
