Kid Rock’s father, Bill Ritchie, Sr., passed away Thursday, February 15th. Kid Rock made the sad announcement of his father’s death on Instagram, one day after his passing.

All About Bill Ritchie, Sr.

Bill Ritchie, Sr., along with his wife Susan, had lived in both Royal Oak and Romeo, Michigan. He was a former business owner. He had once owned a car dealership, Crest Lincoln-Mercury, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Seeing he was from Michigan, it no surprise Ritchie was part of the automobile industry. He was once also the chairman of the Detroit auto show. He held this position in the late 1980’s.

Bill Ritchie, Sr. was the father of four children. Kid Rock was his third child. He was also a grandfather and great-grandfather.

Kid Rock’s Instagram Post

“My Dad, Bill Ritchie Sr, moved on to be with Jesus yesterday,” Kid Rock posted on X. “ He was an incredible father, grandfather, great grandfather, and so much more, none shy of being quite the character!”

Kid Rock’s Previous Tribute To His Father

Kid Rock paid another tribute to his father. This one occurred in 2015. He wrote the song “Drinking Beer With My Dad.” This song appeared on his album entitled First Kiss. This album was released in 2015 as well.

Throughout his musical career, Kid Rock was quick to give credit to both his father and his mother for his love of music. “My parents had barn parties on Friday nights,” he explained “[They] would drink and listen to rock ’n’ roll…”

“They loved rock ’n’ roll, classic rock, country music.

My dad liked a lot of the outlaw country stuff,” Kid Rock said. “Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, all of the early Sun Records; they loved Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis.”
