Known for her soulful voice and timeless hits, the singer has made a significant impact on the country music scene. This year, she will receive a special honor that underscores her enduring influence and contribution. Keep reading for all the details.
Trisha Yearwood To Receive Special Honor At 2024 CMT Awards
Trisha Yearwood came into the country music scene in 1991 with her chart-topping hit “She’s In Love With The Boy.” Over 30 years later, she’s still making music but has also expanded her reach to cookbooks and humanitarian efforts. Alongside her husband, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood joined the reconstruction efforts in New Orleans in 2007 after Hurricane Katrina.
The country singers teamed up with former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn Carter, to work with Habitat For Humanity. Not only did the older couple inspire Trisha and Garth’s humanitarian efforts, but they also inspired their marriage.
But another famous Carter inspired the CMT Awards in honoring Trisha Yearwood. PEOPLE magazine reported that Trisha Yearwood will receive the first June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award at this year’s CMT Awards ceremony.
June Carter Cash passed away, but her influence on country music and the world is still felt today. She contributed to many charities, including the SOS Children’s Villages in Austria.
An exec with CMT released a statement on why Trisha Yearwood would be the first to receive the honor. “Trisha has a unique ability to rally a community, whether that may be families in need with Habitat for Humanity, or uplifting her fellow artists and entertainers trying to carve a path in the industry,” they said.
In addition to receiving an award, Trisha will take the stage to perform “Put It in a Song” from her upcoming new album.
