- Garth Brooks Breaks Silence On Sexual Assault Lawsuit - October 4, 2024
News broke on Thursday, October 3, that Garth Brooks is being sued by a woman going by the false name of Jane Roe for alleged sexual assault and battery. The woman has previously made allegations against Brooks which he adamantly denied. Now, more details are surfacing in the new lawsuit filed in California courts. Keep reading to find out more.
Garth Brooks Sued For Alleged Sexual Assault
Country legend Garth Brooks has a new legal battle on his hands as Jane Roe filed a suit against him on Thursday. CNN obtained court documents indicating that she is suing Brooks on allegations of sexual assault and battery. The woman was employed by Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood as a hair and makeup artist.
Jane Roe says she began working for Brooks in 2017. Prior to that, she worked for Yearwood beginning in 1999. The sexual incidents that she is talking about allegedly occurred in 2019.
Along with accusing Brooks of sexual assault and battery, she is also saying Garth repeatedly exposed his genitals and buttocks to her. He also frequently talked about sex and shared sexual fantasies. She also alleged he would regularly change his clothing in front of her and even sent sexually explicit text messages.
Her lawsuit claims that one time in 2019 at his home he stepped out of the shower naked and forced her to touch his genitals while talking explicitly to her.
It was in May 2019 that the alleged sexual assault occurred. She says they flew together in his private jet to Los Angeles for work. He booked a hotel suite with only one bedroom. In the room, he appeared in the doorway naked and she says she felt trapped. This was when he allegedly raped her.
She went on to allege that following that situation he began to grope her and continue to talk sexually to her. He even allegedly talked about having a threesome with his wife.
He Allegedly Tried To Silence Her
According to the report, Garth Brooks filed his own suit in the past trying to silence the alleged victim. He filed under the name John Doe.
Jane Roe’s attorneys say Brooks filed the suit in “efforts to silence our client through the filing of a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation.”
Her attorneys now feel that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions. Jane Roe’s attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen and Hayley Baker said, “We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint againstTrisha Yearwood & Garth Brooks Play Kelly Clarkson’s Matchmaker Garth Brooks. The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.”
So far Brooks has not responded to these new accusations.
