The one thing is Jelly Roll has never held anything about his past back. He was in trouble more times than he can count, locked up when his daughter, Bailee, was born, and was the worst criminal ever. However, he has used his past life experiences to inspire so many who need it. Jelly wants them to see there is light at the end of the tunnel and that they do not have to stay down. Despite all that he has shared about himself with the world, he still has some secrets hidden.
Now, they are about to come out, thanks to Us Weekly and some are fun while others are quite shocking. One thing he revealed is that he learned ASL (sign language) but what would prompt him to do that?
I’ve known sign language since high school because I had a friend who was deaf. I surprised my team the other day when I had a conversation with an [American Sign Language] interpreter.
Along with him knowing ASL, he also likes to read. In fact, every year, he reads The Alchemist and Tuesdays With Morrie. As for sleeping, Jelly loves to do that on his tour bus. He says it’s perfect because it is dark and cold. Though he has performed a plethora of times, the most nervous he has ever been was at the 2024 Emmys:

Jelly’s real name is Jason DeFord but it was his mother, Donna, who gave him his iconic nickname. He used to meet up with his father, Buddy, every week before he passed. The two also went to Tennessee Titans games together.

As for Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie XO, she has amassed her own amount of fame. She goes on tour with him but he admits that his dream date with her would be a day at home. Before each show, he and his band perform the theme song from the film Cool Runnings while he was most starstruck by Paul McCartney. However, Reba McEntire is right up there with Sir Paul. Finally, it has been sixteen years since he has turned his life around, and look at what he has done with it.
