Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are one of country music’s most beloved couples and they have been together a really long time. Many people are unfamiliar with how these two got together in the first place. Their story is an interesting one and not something Faith cares to keep secret. In fact, she is proud to admit that she ended her engagement to be with Tim. What did she have to say about it? Keep reading to find out all the details.
Faith Hill Was Previously Engaged
Country superstar Faith Hill met Tim McGraw way back in 1994. However, they did not begin dating one another until in 1996. When they met they were both actually in other relationships.
In fact, Tim’s girlfriend at the time wasn’t even happy with him saying hello to Faith. She noted that the two had obvious chemistry together.
In 1996, Faith joined Tim’s tour and so they obviously spent more time together. She was engaged to Scott Hendricks. Eventually, they both ended the relationships they were in.
Faith said way back in 1998, “If someone is going to judge my character because I was engaged to somebody and then I left him for somebody else … I can’t control that. But I wasn’t about to let Tim slip through my hands.”
The two began dating and within months they were engaged and then married. They were expecting their first baby shortly after that.

Best Decision Ever
Leaving her ex turned out to be the best decision ever. It did take her a bit to finally say yes to Tim but she finally caved on marrying him. He proposed to her more than once but she kept saying no.
Tim recalled when he proposed again and shared the story. He said, “She said, ‘We’re at a country music festival in a trailer house, and you’re asking me to marry you?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ So I went onstage … When I came back offstage, [I saw] a Sharpie with lipstick kisses all over it, saying, ‘Yes! I’m gonna be your wife.'”
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have been married for 28 years now. They celebrated their anniversary on October 6.
Since getting married they have had three daughters who are of course all grown up now. They are Gracie, Maggie and Audrey.
