The University of Tennessee’s athletic department will no longer play Garth Brooks’s song amid scandal. Which artist is replacing him? Keep reading for all the details.

Garth Brooks At Center Of Shocking Accusations

Country music was rocked earlier this month when a former employee of Garth Brooks made shocking allegations. An unnamed former makeup artist and hairstylist for the singer made accusations of sexual abuse and harassment. The “Tomorrow Never Comes” singer denies all charges and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, is standing by him.

The allegations came to light in early October after the accuser filed a lawsuit against Brooks. Jane Doe, as the documents call her to protect her privacy, made some harsh accusations against the singer. And she reportedly has texts to back up the allegations.

Tennessee Vols Dump Garth Brooks Song Amid Scandal

Shortly after the scandal broke, a Garth Brooks song was pulled from a late-night talk show. Now the University of Tennessee has dumped “Friends in Low Places” from the Vols football games. The iconic song has ushered in the fourth quarter for nearly a decade.

But fans were shocked to hear another song play instead during the game this weekend when the Vols faced the Florida Gaters. The Tennessee team won 23-17.

Morgan Wallen Song Replaces “Friends in Low Places”

“Friends in Low Places” was released in 1990. It spent four weeks at the top of the country charts and earned several awards. Garth Brooks opened a bar in Nashville with the same name earlier this year. The song is arguably his biggest hit.

But Tennessee Vols fans will no longer ‘blame it on all their roots.’ A Morgan Wallen song played over the speakers instead. The Garth Brooks song was replaced with “The Way I Talk.” Fittingly, the Morgan Wallen song mentions the Vols. The singer is a huge fan and supporter of the football team.

Thousands of fans sang along when the Morgan Wallen song got to the, “It’s gets louder when I’m cheering on the Volunteers,” part. The country singer grew up in Sneedville, which is less than two hours from Knoxville, where the Vols play at Neyland Stadium.

Morgan Wallen sold out the stadium two nights in a row back in September. The attendance broke records previously held by The Jackson 5.

Listen to the crowd roar when Morgan Wallen’s “The Way I Talk” starts playing.

Neither country singer has addressed the unexpected change in songs at the Vols games.

Do you think Garth Brooks’ song was dumped because of the scandal or because of Morgan Wallen’s popularity? Sound off in the comments.

  1. No, I read else where that talks were going on about removing his song before the accusations against him were made public. I do not remember which sight it was on.
