Jelly Roll had a successful tour with the Beautifully Broken Tour recently. However, according to the singer, he dealt with a major illness for the majority of that tour. So, what did he have to say about the sickness he dealt with, as well as how that impacted him on the road?
Jelly Roll Recently Concluded Major Tour
As fans keeping up with Jelly Roll’s recent shows know, the “Need A Favor” singer recently concluded a major tour, called the Beautifully Broken Tour. This was a major undertaking for the singer, which included him making stops in some of the biggest cities across the country.
Jelly Roll’s meteoric rise to the top of the mountain (and the top of the charts) has been the stuff of legend. He is one of the most in-demand celebrities out there today, as well as one of the most recognizable, even amid his shocking weight loss of more than 100 pounds.
Jelly concluded this recent tour in Nashville, in the same venue where he played his first-ever arena show. So, it was a full-circle moment for him in more than one way.
Jelly Opens Up About Severe Sickness While Touring
While putting on a major tour and performing at the absolute highest level is a task in and of itself, it’s even harder if you have to go out there and perform while dealing with a devastating illness. According to Jelly Roll, this was the reality for him during the bulk of this recent tour.
The singer recently revealed: “I was on antibiotics for 70 of the 90 days of that tour. I hadn’t ate for a week. Just could not. It was horrible. I thought we were gonna have to cancel the first five shows because I thought I had to get a gallbladder removed.”
This Was Not The Only Issue Jelly Roll Dealt With
Jelly Roll recently opened up about this harrowing situation on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast. According to the singer, this mysterious sickness was not the only thing he had to deal with, either. In the middle of the tour, he had to go in for a root canal, and he even had to deal with an infection that went into his jaw.
What made this even more difficult for the singer was that the procedure made his mouth numb, even when he had songs to sing. According to Jelly, he said: “My mouth was still numb. I did the first three songs feeling like I had slobber coming off my face. It’s still there. I still gotta go get the cyst removed this month. I still gotta get a dime-sized cyst removed from the middle of my teeth.
Through it all, Jelly Roll powered through, on his way to a successful tour. If anything, this is the true embodiment of making sure that the show goes on, despite what he was dealing with at the time.
