Lainey Wilson has been getting serious with the man in her life, her boyfriend, Devlin “Duck” Hodges. As the pair have been dating for a few years, many of her fans believe there could be wedding bells for the country singer and the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback in 2025. So, what are some of the clues?
Lainey Wilson’s Love Life Is Inspiring Her Music
One of the biggest tells that things are serious in Lainey Wilson’s love life is the fact that her relationship with Duck has been influencing her songwriting. One example from her latest album, Whirlwind, is the hit single “4x4xU.”
It’s certainly a sappy love song, and definitely a departure for Lainey in terms of her usual songwriting. However, according to her, this was a song that came together and felt right, and one that she used Duck as the inspiration for.
Speaking recently about the writing process behind that hit single, Lainey recently said: “The truth is, I write what I know, and I finally found a man worth writing about. So, you know, it’s a love song because y’all probably thought, ‘Dang, she ain’t got it in her, she ain’t got it in her.’ But I do. I got me a cheerleader.”
Wilson Has Kept Her Relationship Somewhat Private
While Lainey Wilson has spoken publicly about her relationship with Duck, she has also kept her love life as private as she can, considering her level of fame. Lainey has certainly hinted in the past about walking down the aisle with him, even joking that she would be the one to propose.
Speaking previously about how the pair met and kicked off their romance, Wilson said: “We met at a time where he was still playing with them [the Steelers], but then it all changed. So it was weird. It was like his life was changing as my life was changing and we were going different directions….”
Lainey Wilson Shares Her Thoughts On Marriage
When you write and record your lover in hit songs, that is certainly a good indication that things are serious. This is something that Lainey did on her most recent record, Whirlwind. In many ways, her fans would not be surprised if she ends up walking down the aisle at some point this year.
Previously, Wilson shared her thoughts on marriage, adding: “I think it needs to be during a season of our life where we really have the time to enjoy it. Right now it would be like, ‘Oh shoot, I’m engaged. OK, onto the next thing. I just want to be able to really soak it in.”
