Carrie Underwood has been the voice of Sunday Night Football for the past 11 years. She has recorded countless team combinations and has helped players and fans prepare for the games. This has been a fan-favorite occurrence about Sunday Night Football since she started. However, her song was not played in the latest Wild Card game. Why did they not play it?
Carrie Underwood Has Helped Players Prep For Games
The Sunday Night Football song has not only been a fan favorite, but it has also been a player favorite as well. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce even thanked Carrie for helping get in the right mindset before the games. Travis Kelce has recently been a world favorite after starting a relationship with Taylor Swift, so this was awesome for Carrie. According to American Songwriter, Carrie thinks it is cool some of these boys have been listening to her since they were young.
“I think my favorite is when … it kind of dawns on me that it’s like, before these guys were playing in Sunday Night Football games, they were watching Sunday Night Football, and I’ve been [recording the theme for] 11 years, so some of these guys were younger, watching these football games, just thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, if I could be on Sunday Night Football.’ And then, when they get there, I’m a little part of their journey, which is really cool.”

Fans Upset The Song Was Not Played
The Wild Card game that took place last was a face-off between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams. Fans were shocked when they did not hear the famous Sunday Night Football song being played before the game. They even went to X, formerly Twitter, and voiced their opinions.

However, Carrie Underwood still wished the teams good luck on social media.
“What another great regular season of [NFL] football and being part of [Sunday Night Football] each week! Good luck to all in the playoffs!”
The reason the song was not played is still unknown and fans are wondering. It makes no sense for it to not be played, especially in an important game like that.
