Reba McEntire will be singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl tomorrow, February 11. She was chosen for this task months ago. The “Whoever’s In New England” singer is wanting her rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” to be full of patriotism. However Reba McEntire choses to sing the National Anthem, fans of the “Queen of Country Music” are sure to love it.
Reba McEntire Explains Her Reasons For Patriotism
The Oklahoma-born country superstar, Reba McEntire, has always expressed her pride in being an Okie as well as being an American. Singing “The Star Spangled Banner” at this year’s Super Bowl is just another way for McEntire to do that. “It’s not about me,” the “Fancy” singer said.
“It’s about everybody who has worked so hard to get to the Super Bowl,” the “What Am I Going To Do About You” singer explained. She went on to say how it is her “job is to bring the patriotism.”
“I’m going to be singing for not only the people who are going to be performing and playing on the field that day, but it’s for everybody who has worked so hard to ensure our freedom and try to have as much peace on earth as we can,” Reba McEntire stated. “…I’m just the conduit and the water hose who gets to sing the song.”
Reba McEntire’s Mirrors Those Of Taylor Swift
Reba McEntire stated more than once the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers was not about her. What she said closely resembles the many statements made by Taylor Swift. Many believe Swift is trying to gain free publicity and more time in the public’s eye by attending her boyfriend’s football games, including the Super Bowl being played tomorrow.
Last fall, Reba jokingly said she was “mad” at Taylor Swift for having Travis Kelce as a boyfriend. The “I’ll Believe It When I See It” singer admitted to having a “crush” on the Kansas City tight end. Despite her joke, it is highly doubtful McEntire has any hard feelings against Swift for dating Kelce. Reba McEntire said, should she run into Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl, she would have nothing but kind words for the pop singer.
