Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood have come out with a new song. The two were excited to release their new duet. However, Cody revealed that he “wouldn’t sing” the song if Carrie was not in it with him. This was something that was not up for discussion. Carrie Underwood Is A Busy Woman
Carrie Underwood is a busy woman. It has recently been revealed that she is taking Katy Perry’s place as a judge on American Idol. She will be beside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. This is something that she is ecstatic about. Carrie won American Idol and that is how she got big. However, this is the first time the show is having a winner as a judge. She will be able to give the contestants and fellow judges a new perspective that they have not yet received. Carrie will also know how the contestants are feeling and be able to be sensitive to that.
Cody Johnson Was Determined To Sing With Her
Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood have come out with a new duet. “I’m Gonna Love You” was not originally meant to be a duet when it was written by Travis Denning in 2019. However, Cody knew he had to have Carrie on this song with him.
“From the moment I heard this song, I heard Carrie’s voice on it. It was a non-negotiable for me; either we sing it together, or I wouldn’t sing it at all. It’s that special to me. Working with Carrie has been an absolute pleasure. She’s not only one hell of a singer, but she’s a class act all the way around. It warms my heart to work with someone who’s seen so much success in their career and who’s still so down-to-earth. I feel like this duet is going to be massive in so many ways, and I couldn’t be more proud of it!”
Carrie also had amazing things to say about Cody.
“So I think the first time we met was an award show, and there’s always so much going on at those things, and everybody’s just coming and going. But I remember leaving that night, just saying, ‘I really, I really like that guy, and I hope I watch him do great things.’”
It seems as though the two of them think highly of each other. Cody is extremely grateful that Carrie wanted to sing this song with him. However, it seems that Carrie was just as happy to do it. She knew that she was going to like him from the moment she met him. It is safe to say that Cody will be cheering Carrie on when she is a judge on American Idol.
