Dolly Parton is showing gratitude for her biggest dream coming true. She has worked immensely hard for decades in both music and film. Now, it is all paying off in a big way but what happened that has Dolly so thrilled? Keep reading for further details.
Dolly Parton’s Biggest Dream Comes True
She may have fifty Grammy nominations and eleven awards but Dolly Parton is incredibly humble. Anytime something incredible happens, she is overly grateful and gracious as if she has never been praised in her life. Dolly has had decades of success in music but she has also done very well in the film industry. Her fans will know her from her role as Truvy in Steel Magnolias where she stole the show. She was also in 9 to 5 where she wrote and sang the movie’s iconic theme song. After years of being lauded by the rock and roll community, Dolly finally released her first rock album.
It was the highest charting album she ever had plus she was able to do some incredible and showstopping collaborations. Her career did have to slow down some as Dolly wanted to care for her husband of nearly sixty years, Carl Dean. The illusive Carl Dean whom even her close friends have never met but adore their romance all the same. To keep herself busy, Dolly launched a beauty brand and a cookbook with her sister. Now, she has had her dream realized thanks to Billboard as she was named their Greatest Country Artist of All Time:
I just learned that Billboard Magazine just released their list of greatest country artists of all time, and they have my name sitting at the top! Can you believe that?
Dolly made a short video for her fans to express her gratitude for this immense honor. It was clear that she felt nothing but love for all of those who helped make this possible:
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take my music all around the world and to see all my dreams come true.
Her first album came out in 1967 so her career has spanned decades and it has been fruitful. This is beyond well-deserved.
How Is It Determined?
Billboard did go on to explain how their charts worked so fans would understand why Dolly Parton was on top. Commercial success does factor in but it is not the driving force for who ranks. There is also artistry, longevity, and enduring influence. Newer artists do not necessarily apply as they have not shown they have staying power just yet. However, Dolly has more than proven she is a force to be reckoned with as she has 25 No. 1s on Billboard’s Country Songs chart. She may be slightly slowing down but it is highly unlikely her chart-topping days are over just yet.
