Jelly Roll Addresses Weight Loss Killing His Career

When Jelly Roll burst onto the scene, his weight fluctuated. He has been thinner and he has been big but he has always been immensely talented. That is one thing no one can ever take away from him. When he was locked up, Jelly dreamed of a music career and he has gone further than he could have ever anticipated. He has amassed four Grammy nominations and won a handful of other awards. Jelly just came off of his biggest tour ever and even opened the 50th season of SNL.

As he was going through this, Jelly decided to run a 5K. He started to get in shape through that and then he had tour weight loss goals. Following this, Jelly and his wife, Bunnie Xo started heavily looking into IVF. He wanted to ensure that he would be around for his future children and the two he has now. Jelly underwent an insane lifestyle change and looks incredible but was he worried that losing weight would kill his career? He sat down and spoke with his wife on her Dumb Blonde podcast.

According to Fox News, Jelly was not concerned at all about his changing figure, and with good reason. It was Bunnie who initially asked him if he feared backlash from losing weight and this is what he had to say:

One night you said something to the effect of, ‘Are you worried about the ’fat effect’? And that most Hollywood stars who have lost a large amount of weight ended up not getting placed in their career. What I want the world to know, and I want the people to see, Bunnie, is that I didn’t become successful because of my weight, I became successful in spite of it. I somehow managed to be this successful with carrying 550 pounds. That’s insane.

It has become vital for Jelly to keep people talking about his weight loss and how he is progressing. He has them following his journey and it is really exciting.

Run & Hide Movement

Jelly Roll noted how some artists will leave the industry and lose a bunch of weight. Then, they resurface and it is a whole new them that fans have to adapt to. Yet, they do it because they are ashamed but he clearly is not. Fans loved hearing him be so transparent and open:

  • I just love BOTH Jelly AND Bunnie!! They are so GREAT TOGETHER and the way they both encourage one another is so inspiring !!!!
  • Thanks to Jelly, I’m 70lbs down from my highest weight I’ve ever been, He has not only inspired me to be in better health, but also to become a better person, Thank you for being you Jelly!
  • Jelly roll inspired me to start loosing weight , walking after my brain injury at 16 years old and much much more I don’t know where to start or how to say thank you you really helped after I lost my dad and I’m forever grateful

Hopefully, he sees the impact he has on people not just with his music but now with his health and fitness journey.
