Jenna Davis Talks “On A Budget”

Tell us how you landed your new song “On A Budget.”

“On A Budget” was actually an old Kelsea Ballerini, Shane McAnally, and Jimmy Robbins demo. I was pitched the song last year and it truly never left my mind. When I was fourteen, I became an internet meme called “penny nickel dime” and received an obnoxious amount of hate. Despite being a young actress in the public eye, I had never faced this type of scrutiny however, I was taught that haters are always lovers in disguise and to never let a person’s negativity or opinions bring me down.

Nevertheless, this song and its root do not just apply to being in the public eye, simply as humans in the world we are all subject to hate, negativity, drama, and ill speakers. That said, when I heard the song, I obviously found it clever, but I found it almost scarily coincidental that it was a clap back to ill speakers strictly using money terms. Since “penny nickel dime” was ironically based around money it almost felt like destiny for me to be able to cut it and I’m very grateful that Kelsea, Shane, & Jimmy trusted me enough to do so.

Do you want to be a crossover artist or strictly country?

My debut album is definitely more country than anything I have released thus far and I’m very excited about that. Since day one, I have always labeled myself as a “country pop artist” however, notice country always remains first.

Jenna Talks Music Or Acting and Touring

Are you focusing on music over an acting career or trying to do both?

I am going full speed in both music and acting. I don’t think as artists or creatives we have to put ourselves in a box and choose one. I am so grateful to be receiving opportunities in both fields and I am going to continue to pursue both even though sometimes it be a bit of a calendar juggle!

Are you touring this year? If so, where can fans find the dates?

My team and I are working on it so unfortunately, I have to use the dreaded words “stay tuned.”

What social media network is your favorite to post on?

That’s a very difficult question! I post on every platform and have formed such special communities on each of them. I’m not sure I can choose a favorite; however, Instagram was the first platform to really support my singing which I will forever be grateful for.

Make sure you check out Jenna on social media and listen to her new song “On A Budget” out now!
