Without a doubt, one of America’s favorite couples are Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Fans get to watch their love story unfold on their television screens since the couple met on the set of The Voice. Over the past five years, the pair routinely makes headlines. Most times, it is for their latest duet. Nowadays, it’s in speculation on whether or not they secretly tied the know. Gwen Stefani discusses her songwriting process with DJ Khaled
In the interview with DJ Khaled on The First One podcast, Gwen Stefani shares details about different parts of her successful career. Specifically, she reflects the differences between being part of a group and having a solo career.
According to the interview, it doesn’t seem like much of Stefani’s creative process has changed. She shares that she used to bounce things off of her bandmates. Now, she runs things by Shelton. She also explains that “the process is much different but still crucial for her.”

Gwen Stefani explains why the feedback part of her process hasn’t changed. “When you’re on your own [but used to] collaborat[ing] and writing with a bunch of different people, you kind of feel like you need someone to do that with,” Stefani explains.
Luckily, Blake Shelton has experience in songwriting. Stefani credits his “decorated career in country music and his long time stint on “The Voice” for “trusting him to be a part of her creative process.” Which makes sense. After 20 seasons on the voice, Shelton has heard from all of the genres. Ultimately, this diversifies his musical pallet.
Blake Shelton makes Gwen Stefani ‘so mad’
However, it isn’t all rainbows and butterflies when it comes to this musical duo. With careers as musicians, fans would think that the couple is regularly cranking out new music. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Gwen Stefani shares that they’ve only written three songs together. “We’ve actually written three songs together – we wrote a Christmas song together, and then we wrote two other songs.”

There is such a simple explanation for why Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani don’t write songs together. “But he just doesn’t like writing that much,” shares Stefani while laughing. “It makes me so mad.”
