After the Jason Aldean song “Try That In A Small Town” ended up pulled from CMT, it set off a controversy. One of the names brought up in this was Kid Rock. The news broke that Kid Rock told CMT that if they pulled the Aldean song, he would leave the network.

However, it turns out this might be more of the fake news that people are spreading around social media. Here are the facts.

Kid Rock never made an ultimatum to CMT about Jason Aldean

The news that broke was from a smaller site that doesn’t have name recognition. However, it still caused people to spread the news article like it was gospel. The title indicated that Kid Rock walked away from CMT in protest of Jason Aldean. However, anyone who read the actual article should have realized there was something wrong with the story.

The site is called Latherland. Looking at the About Us page, the site reveals it is a “subsidiary of the America’s Last Line of Defense network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery.” This is the same network that houses the Dunning–Kruger Times, which was responsible for many other satire articles about Jason Aldean that have been spread on social media over the past few days.

This specific article claims that Kid Rock said he would leave CMT after the site went “woke” by pulling Aldean’s video. It then said this was a huge blow to CMT since Rock is “a huge country star.” The site then said that Kid Rock planned to humble CMT like he previously did Bud Lite.

The article also claims that Kid Rock’s TV show made CMT $15 million for every episode. It described the show as “shooting guns at beer cans” and “tips on how to seduce close family members.” It also said fans could learn “how to make cheap meth” and it will be a huge loss for CMT.

Jason Aldean speaks out about his song during concert

While the recent fake news stories about everyone from Blake Shelton canceling a $30 million deal to Hank Williams Jr. stepping down from a CMT position are running rampant, Jason Aldean is speaking up for himself.

Aldean performed the controversial song on Friday night and the fans loved it. He also spoke about the song and tried to defend it. At the concert, Aldean said, “I’ve seen a lot of stuff suggesting I’m this, suggesting I’m that. I feel, like, everybody’s entitled to their opinions. You can think something all you want to but that doesn’t mean it’s true.”

The video calls out the protests over the past few years and hints that if those happen in a small town, gun retaliation could be in store for those protestors. Jason Aldean himself survived a mass shooting in Las Vegas that left 60 people dead.
