Country superstar Luke Bryan is doing whatever he can to avoid unnecessary drama and controversy. A video popped up on TikTok that showed Luke sidestepping to avoid singing with a 16-year-old. What happened and why was he trying to avoid her? Keep reading to find out more.
Luke Bryan sidesteps singing with 16-year-old
Singer Luke Bryan wasn’t taking any chances when it came to singing with a 16-year-old girl on stage. Why did her age matter? Well, Luke was about to sing his song from a 2015 duet titled “Home Alone Tonight.” In 2015 he sang the song with Karen Fairchild. The song talks about having a few drinks and going home with a stranger to get revenge on an ex.
The lyrics say,
Til we forgot what we came here to forget
Ain’t a clock, a tick, a tock, that’s gonna stop
A night we won’t regret
So put your drink down, throw your camera up
Flip it around and snap a payback picture
(I’ll send it to my ex)
I’ll send it to my ex
And send them both a text saying
“We ain’t going home alone tonight”
Girl you ain’t gotta, I ain’t gotta go
Home alone tonight
This song was definitely not the most appropriate for Luke to perform with a teenage girl. He asked her before they started how old she is. She told him sixteen. At this point, Luke hilariously side-shuffled away from her.
Luke said, “Sixteen? She’s too… Oh, I got to get away from you.” He quickly added, “Yep… I do NOT need that coming up online in the morning.”
Luke avoided a lot of potential drama by side-stepping away from the teenager.

Luckily, this hilarious response from Luke was caught on film and put on TikTok for fans.
He’s returning to American Idol
Luke is currently out on on the road for some concert dates. However, it was announced this week that Luke along with Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will be returning to American Idol for the upcoming season.
These three have been judges since 2018. The new season is planning a spring 2024 premiere. Performers who want to be a contestant on the show can sign up for virtual tryouts. These will take place in August and September.
What do you think about Luke’s near mishap with the teenager on stage? Did he make the right choice by laughing it off and sidestepping the situation completely?
