Kelly Clarkson has turned one of her happy classics into a breakup banger now that she is performing in Las Vegas. The mother of two is taking the time to give her fans what they want, even if it is for a short time. While doing so, she is making some alterations to a few fan favorites to reflect her 2022 divorce. So, what is the latest casualty? Read on for more details.
Kelly Clarkson Turns Happy Classic Into Breakup Banger
Since Kelly Clarkson started her Las Vegas residency, she has been unleashing all of her anger regarding her divorce. She has let all of her frustration go and fans are loving it. In fact, her reimagined cover of Gayle’s “ABCEDFU” was a huge hit, thanks to TikTok. Now people want it released as a single. Kelly and her husband, Brandon Blackstock divorced after seven years and two children. They initially filed in 2020 and it was finalized in 2022. Kelly openly admitted that it caused her depression but she has worked to overcome it. Luckily, she had her immensely popular talk show, her kids, and her music to keep her occupied.
Ahead of her talk show relocating to NYC from California, Kelly Clarkson is doing a short stint in Las Vegas. While there, people like Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix have been enjoying the show. Now, according to ET, Kelly is continuing to shade Blackstock by switching up the lyrics to her song, “Piece By Piece.” Before belting the tune out over the weekend, Clarkson had this to say: “This song I initially wrote just super hopeful, right? And well, sometimes hopeful turns into hopeless, so here we go, ‘Piece by Piece.’”
In the OG version of the song, Kelly applauds her ex for being everything to her that she seemingly did not have as she was growing up. The remix replaced all of the “he” lyrics to “I.” For example: “He never walks away / He never asks for money / He takes care of me / He loves me” turned to: “I just walk away / when they ask for money / I take care of me / ’cause I love me.”
More Touring?
Despite Kelly Clarkson being so successful with her residency, she admits that she has so much going on in her life. Therefore, doing a regular tour may not be possible in the near future. However, fans will still get to see Kelly on her daily talk show and she loves releasing new music so that will hopefully keep flowing from her. For now, it seems that this is the best therapy any girl could ask for.
What do you think of Kelly revising the lyrics to slam her ex? Does this make her even more relatable and fun? Let us know in the comments below.
