Carrie Underwood is opening up, copping to her insecurities, and sharing that she is unsure of herself. She always seems so confident when she’s performing. Yet, underneath, there is a lot that she hides but no longer. Read on for more details.
Carrie Underwood Cops To Insecurities, Unsure Of Self
It’s been amazing for Carrie Underwood as she won the fourth season of American Idol. From there, her career just skyrocketed and has yet to slow down. She is currently doing a residency in Las Vegas which promises special treats for this new round. Additionally, she is a wife and a mother to two boys so is there anything she cannot do? It seems she has all of the confidence in the world when she is performing for crowds and with the top singers in the industry. Yet, deep down, she has her own personal insecurities that she is just now revealing.
According to Music Mayhem, Carrie spoke to Dr. Josh Axe and shared a lot of personal thoughts. More so, she was not shy when it came to her mental health and issues regarding that. She started by addressing life in the limelight.
“I feel like something that anybody, surely I can’t be the only one that’s in the spotlight, is having self-doubt. You see yourself, and you’re like, ‘I should have done better. I could have done better. This didn’t do what I thought it was going to do. Do they like me? What do they think?’”
Clearly, people do adore Carrie but it is easy to question that, regardless of who you are or what your profession is. However, she noted that being a public figure does add to the stress, at least for her.
“When you’re in the public eye, it’s kind of like, it’s impossible not to think like that because ‘they’ are the ones, whoever they are, that are saying the things and that are coming to the shows and buying the music and stuff like that. I feel like that is where you can kind of see a skewed version of yourself and end up telling yourself you’re not good enough, and you did terrible and work harder, those kinds of things.”
Overcoming Negative Thoughts
So, did Carrie Underwood share what she does to combat or work through these negative or intrusive thoughts? Admittedly, she feels like it is the “devil” trying to break through. There is only so much a person can do and they can make themselves crazy in the moment. That is what can happen when someone does not finish what they have started as they never feel like it is good enough. Carrie shares that can be what limits her and is quite difficult.
Ultimately, Carrie feels like she is not good enough in other aspects of her life. Even as a wife and a mother no matter how hard she tries to make everyone happy. However, she shares that she just keeps reiterating to herself that she is doing the best she ultimately can and that is enough.
