Country singer Miranda Lambert has a surprising connection to recently released felon Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Keep reading for all the details.
Gypsy Rose Released From Prison After Murdering Mother
You may not recognize Gypsy Rose Blachard’s name or face, but you’ve likely heard her story on the news. In 2015, her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, was stabbed to death in their home, and Gypsy Rose was missing.
The police investigation quickly discovered the truth — Gypsy Rose had enlisted her boyfriend to kill her mother. Why?
Gypsy Rose was somewhat famous before her arrest for murder. Suffering from chromosomal disorder and muscular dystrophy, she was wheelchair-bound as a young girl. As her health worsened, she was gifted an accessible home from Habitat For Humanity and wishes from the Make-A-Wish foundation.
However, after years of being an invalid and using a feeding tube, Gypsy Rose slowly came to the realization that there was nothing wrong with her.
Her mother is suspected of having Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health condition that caused her to fabricate her daughter’s illness.
Gypsy Rose eventually gained internet access and joined online dating sites. It was there she met Nicholas Godejohn, the man who would eventually murder her mother.
Once the truth came out about Gypsy Rose’s role in the murder, she took a plea deal for second-degree murder. She received a 10-year prison sentence but was released this week after seven years in prison.

Nicholas Godejohn was sentenced to life without parole.
Gypsy Rose’s life story has been the topic of several documentaries and movies, including Hulu’s The Act.
Miranda Lambert’s Surprising Connection To Gypsy Rose
How does Miranda Lambert know the infamous midwestern convict? The country singer fancies herself something as an outlaw, but her connection to Gypsy Rose goes back years.
One of the wishes granted by Make-A-Wish was tickets to a Miranda Lambert concert. At the time, Gypsy Rose was a big fan.
The tickets included backstage passes to meet Miranda and then-husband Blake Shelton. A snapshot of the “Kerosene” singer and Gypsy Rose briefly appeared on screen in the 2018 documentary Gypsy’s Truth and Lies.
In addition to posing for a photo, Miranda Lambert felt compelled to give money to the Blanchards.
According to The Guardian, Miranda sent the family $6,000 in checks back in 2013.
It’s unclear if she got the money back after Gypsy Rose’s arrest.
