They also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Save Me” and Wilson picked up a nomination for Best Country Album for Bell Bottom Country. Jelly also got a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

However, Jelly Roll only wanted to talk about Lainey’s success. “First of all, let’s start with praising Lainey, man. I pride myself on being a really hard worker,” he said. “I do the stuff that other people in this town won’t do, Lainey Wilson does the stuff that I won’t do. She is willing. She is working.”

Jelly Roll explains Lainey Wilson’s hard work

Jelly Roll said that he crossed paths with Lainey Wilson at American Idol and he realized how hard she was working. The country superstar said that Lainey said she caught a flight that morning after waking up at 5 a.m. and had a layover for five hours. She said that she needed to catch a flight at 4 a.m. the next morning to do a corporate show that afternoon and then had to fly out again to perform at a Luke Combs concert.

“These were commercial flights,” Jelly Roll explained. He then said she was “running on fumes” and that her work ethic was “next level.”This is likely what led Lainey to her success. She won the ACM for Best Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Things a Man Oughta Know” in 2021, the CMA for Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year in 2022, and then she saw her biggest success in 2023.

Lainey won four ACM Awards in 2023 on top of four CMA Awards.
