Country Star Darius Rucker Nabbed For Drugs In Tennessee
Darius Rucker, the 57-year-old country star, was recently picked up for drugs in Tennessee. He was taken into custody on Thursday, February 1st in Williamson County. His mugshot has been making the rounds. Even though he is known the world over for his musical chops, this isn’t exactly the way fans are used to seeing him.
After a successful career as the face of Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker made the transition to country music, and he has enjoyed great success ever since he decided to make the jump. So, what else do we know about these recent charges?
What Was Darius Rucker Of Hootie & The Blowfish Charged With?
Darius Rucker was arrested for two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance. Along with that, he was also charged with one count of violating the state’s vehicle registration law. The one silver lining is that this is considered a minor drug offense for the singer.
Darius Rucker was released on a $10,500 bond on Thursday. So, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on this situation and how it resolves. At the time of this writing, it’s unclear exactly what drugs Darius Rucker had on him. However, as someone who has admitted to using drugs in the past, it could be any number of things.
Hootie & The Blowfish Singer Candid About Drug Use
It goes without saying that drugs, as well as other vices, are par for the course in the entertainment industry. Whether it’s taking shots before a show or indulging in some illicit substances, it certainly comes with the territory. In light of Darius Rucker’s recent arrest, it’s worth noting that the singer has been candid about his drug use in the past as well.
Speaking of his drug use, Rucker told the Los Angeles Times back in 2013 that he has “done enough for everybody”. At the time, he added that this was not the way he wanted to live anymore.

Darius Rucker isn’t the only one to struggle with addiction issues. Lady A’s Charles Kelley recently spoke about his battle with alcohol. It got bad enough that his band had to cancel a 2022 tour so that he could get right and get better.
In Darius Rucker’s case, if he is back to using, hopefully this arrest is a wake-up call for him to get back on a better path. He has a lot of fans behind him, no matter what happens. According to his lawyer, Mark Puryear, Rucker is “fully cooperating” with authorities.
