CMT did not waste any time putting together a special television tribute to Toby Keith. The “How Do You Like Me Now?” singer passed away on Monday, February 5th in his home in Oklahoma. The CMT tribute to Keith will air tonight, February 8th, only three days after his death.
The Quickly-Done Toby Keith Tribute
The quickly-done tribute of Toby Keith will be a memorial for the country music superstar. CMT has titled it CMT Remembers: Toby Keith. It will showcase Keith’s career highlights through his many years in the country music world. It will air on CMT, February 8th at 7 p.m. central.
CMT’s tribute to Toby Keith is also expected to highlight more than just his musical career. It will show the world the spirit of the “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue” singer. It will help to share the patriotic, kind-hearted true renegade that made the world of country a better place.
At the time of publication, it was unknown who, if anyone, would be performing. Based on the number of tributes posted to social media, there should not be a lack of country music singers willing to use their voices to remember Toby Keith. Despite this, seeing how quickly CMT’s tribute was put together, it may prove difficult to schedule such performances.
Toby Keith’s Sudden And Untimely Death
Toby Keith passed away in his sleep on Monday, February 5th in his home in Oklahoma. The country music superstar was surrounded by his family. He was only 62 years old at the time of death. His family made the sad announcement on social media.
The “Shoulda Been A Cowboy” singer had been battling stomach cancer for the last few years. Keith underwent chemotherapy, radiation and at least one surgery. Despite this, Keith passed away much too soon.
Toby Keith’s stomach cancer and the treatments for the stomach cancer did not stop him from performing. He gave his last performances in Las Vegas this past December, only a few months before his shocking and untimely death. In true Toby Keith fashion, those concerts were all sold out.

Despite Toby’s battle with stomach cancer, fans from around the world and fellow country music singers alike were shocked by his death. The heartfelt social media posts were proof no one was expecting to lose the “American Made” singer at this time.
