Blake Shelton is back out on the road and in the middle of his Back To The Honky Tonk Tour. A live tour is the best time to tinker with your setlist as a musician, and Blake is taking full advantage of this opportunity to reintroduce a fan-favorite song that hasn’t been in his regular rotations for some time.
Blake Shelton Bringing The Party With His Back To The Honky Tonk Tour
Shelton is hard at work putting on a show-stopping performance every night with his Back To The Honky Tonk Tour. Blake has already played a good number of tour dates on this run, and everything seems to be working like a well-oiled machine.
Fan comments continue to pour in from their experiences attending the various shows, and Blake Shelton and company clearly don’t disappoint when it comes to putting on a killer live show.
Shelton Reintroduces Emotional Song Back Into Setlist
One of the critical but often overlooked elements of putting on a live show is constructing the perfect setlist from start to finish. When you’ve had a long career as Blake Shelton has, it can be more difficult than one might think to put together the ideal live set.
With so many songs to choose from, it can be hard to narrow things down. During this tour run, Blake Shelton decided to put a song back into his rotation that hasn’t seen the light of day in years. It turns out, Blake Shelton added the emotional fan-favorite song The Baby back into the mix.
The Baby was recorded by Shelton for his second studio album, The Dreamer. It also became his second number-one single back in 2003.
Why Country Star Decided To Change Things Up
Originally, Shelton said that he decided to pull this song from his live set because of its heavy nature. After performing the song, he would look out into the crowd and see people “crying and running to the bathroom.”
It took Blake years to realize that this kind of emotional impact wasn’t actually a bad thing. According to Shelton, it was a “mistake” to stop doing the song back in the day. He added that “the power of country music” comes from “when a song connects with people.”
Bringing this classic tune back into the rotation appears to have been a fantastic move by Blake Shelton, as many of his fans are glad he made the decision to re-introduce it.
