Chris Stapleton Recruited By Rock Star For Fleetwood Mac Cover

Chris Stapleton is as in-demand as ever these days. The story of how he came to join a rock legend on a Fleetwood Mac cover is proof of that.

In a move that’s sending shockwaves through the music world, Stapleton has teamed up with legendary guitarist Slash for a stunning cover of the early Fleetwood Mac classic “Oh Well.” The track was recorded for Slash’s new album, Orgy of the Damned, which is set to be released in April 2024.

His singing cadence and that drawl that he has for this particular song, in my mind’s eye, it sounded perfect,” Slash told PEOPLE magazine.

“I had to get his number and cold-call him,” the Guns ‘N Roses icon said. The guitar god was thrilled with how the collaboration turned out. “One of the best ideas I’ve had,” he called recruiting Chris Stapleton on the classic song.

The partnership between Stapleton and Slash might seem unlikely on the surface, but it’s a match made in musical heaven. Stapleton’s rich, soulful vocals perfectly complement Slash’s iconic guitar playing, creating a sound that’s both authentic and electrifying.

Fleetwood Mac fans will undoubtedly appreciate this new take on a classic. “Oh Well” was a staple of the band’s live shows in the late 1960s, featuring the powerful vocals of Peter Green. Slash and Stapleton’s version pays homage to that era, while also injecting their own unique style and energy.

The collaboration between Stapleton and Slash is just the latest in a long line of high-profile partnerships for the country star. He’s previously worked with artists like Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, and Adele, showcasing his incredible versatility and ability to cross musical genres.

He also opened for GNR at their Nashville show on their Not in This Lifetime tour in 2016.

Country Star Returns To Saturday Night Live
