Dolly Parton is sharing her husband, Carl Dean’s main marital rule that he lives by. It is something that he asked of his superstar wife early on and she has obliged ever since. So, what does Carl want from Dolly and is it a big ask? Keep reading for more details.
Dolly Parton Shares Husband’s One Main Marital Rule
Despite her immense success both onscreen and in the studio, Dolly Parton has been successful in her personal life. She married Carl Dean in 1966 and has never looked back. They are so committed to their life and love that they renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. Yet, as many fans have noticed, she is often seen on her own, promoting her products and such. Dolly shines but where is her husband of nearly sixty years? As it turns out, he does not care to be in the public eye and is actually quite private.
More so, one of their big agreements in their marriage is that he will never have to walk any sort of carpet again. According to The Sun, Dolly shared a time when Carl did walk the red carpet with his wife. She opened up about this on her show, What Would Dolly Do? and explained how it was the first and last time he would ever do this:
“He went to one thing with me early on when we first married to a BMI Song of the Year, and he came out there taking off his tuxedo, his tie, and all that, and said, ‘Don’t ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain’t going.'”
She went on to add that she never again did ask him and he never did attend one of those events with her. That seems to have helped them keep longevity in their relationship because they have boundaries. More than that, they respect these boundaries.
At the same time, Dolly Parton keeps going on with her career because this is what she loves. At 78, she is still going and even has a new record she is working on. This comes on the heels of her first rock album which was her most successful to date.
The New Album
According to her niece, Jada, Dolly Parton is working on an album that will encapsulate all that she has been through in her life. Furthermore, she has made it a family affair which is extremely exciting:
“It is an album that documents her whole life. It has been a huge undertaking which involves the whole family. It is an album she has produced with more than 30 tracks with over 20 family members. She sings with us on every track.”
There is also a four-part docuseries being worked on about Parton so there is a lot going on behind the scenes. One thing is for sure, if there is a red carpet, Carl Dean will sit that one out, respectfully.
