Dolly Parton’s Life Becoming Broadway Musical
It has been an amazing journey for Dolly Parton. Not only is she an amazing singer who has spanned the genres from country to recently rock. Yet, she is also an actress known for her work in 9 to 5, Steel Magnolias, and Straight Talk. Plus, she has her own theme Park, Dollywood, and line of baking goods from Duncan Hines. Finally, she is one of the most charitable celebrities, constantly donating money to charity. Dolly is also adamant that children have access to books and reading. Therefore, she has a program to enable all kids in need to get the reading materials they deserve. She is someone to be admired and to emulate when it comes to role models.
At the same time, she and her husband, Carl Dean have been married nearly sixty years and have found the secret to their success. Now, after all of this time, Dolly will have a Broadway musical made about her life. According to Deadline, Hello, I’m Dolly is set to open in 2026. More so, Dolly will be heavily involved as she will write the music, be a co-writer on the book, and lastly, be a producer. Per Dolly’s statement:
“Hello, I’m Dolly, and I lived my whole life to see this show on stage. I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favorites in it as well. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll clap, you’ll stomp, it truly is a Grand Ol’ Opera. Pun and fun intended. Don’t miss it!”
The title was inspired by her first studio album released in 1967 and Adam Speers will produce the musical alongside Parton. Adam seems over the moon thrilled about bringing Hello, I’m Dolly to life:
“I first had the pleasure of working with Dolly Parton in 2019 when she trusted us to develop a new version of her musical 9 to 5 for London’s West End. I had always heard she wanted to do a musical based on her life, so when she asked if I would be interested in producing it, I was bowled over. As the world knows, Dolly is a magical blend of talent, hard work, intelligence, charm, wit, and a gigantically big heart. I’m thrilled we’re going to bring her inspiring story to Broadway.”
