Willie Nelson Calls Off Virginia Beach Show

A message was posted to Willie Nelson’s Facebook page announcing that he would not be performing at an upcoming tour stop in Virginia Beach. The news of the canceled stop follows the country music star dropping out of some of the initial performances on his Outlaw Music Festival Tour.

The Facebook post says that Nelson, 91, has been advised by his doctors to rest. “We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” the social media post read. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”

Fans have been disappointed that Willie Nelson hasn’t been present at the first few performances of the festival tour. The Outlaw Music Festival was partially founded by Nelson. The tour began in Georgia last week, but the On The Road Again singer was not there.

Then, on Wednesday, Nelson’s team confirmed that he wouldn’t be at yet another show on the tour. “Willie Nelson will not be performing at tonight’s show in Virginia Beach,” a post on his official Facebook page read. “We expect Willie to return to the tour shortly.”

The Country Music Icon Isn’t Stopping Any Time Soon

While Willie Nelson has sat out the first few performances, there are several other artists on stage for the tour. Other acts include Alison Krauss, Bob Dylan, Celisse, and Robert Plant. One of Willie Nelson’s sons will also be performing. Lukas Nelson and his family band will be on stage and plan to play some of his dad’s classic songs.

The 91-year-old has continued to remain active in the music industry late in life. In addition to touring, he has also been working on new music and collaborating with other artists recently. Willie Nelson released a new album in May called “The Border.” He also collaborated with Beyonce on her recent “Cowboy Carter” country music album.

Last year, Nelson was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. At his induction, he performed with several other big names, including Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, and Chris Stapleton.

Around the time he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, he spoke with CBS Mornings about when he might retire. “I haven’t quit,” Willie Nelson said. “Maybe I should, but after every tour, I say this is it. And then I get the urge to go back.”
