Willie Nelson has quite the busy summer ahead of him. That did not stop him from starting that summer early at the Luck Reunion Festival 2024 in Texas. For one song, “The Red-Headed Stranger” was joined onstage for a duet with a television icon and superstar. The two sang the Oscar-nominated song “Rainbow Connection.”

Luck Reunion Festival 2024

Willie Nelson was, once again, at the Luck Reunion Festival. Joining him at this festival was Old Crow Medicine Show, Madi Diaz, John Oates and Tyler Childers. There was also a very special (and famous) guest known all around the world.

Making the special appearance at the Luck Reunion Festival was none other than Kermit the Frog. He and Willie Nelson had sang together.

Willie Nelson and Kermit The Frog’s Duets

Willie Nelson and Kermit the Frog sang several songs together. One of those songs was “Rainbow Connection.” This song first recorded for the 1979 movie, The Muppet Movie. It earned a Best Original Song Oscar nomination. Willie Nelson then covered the song in his 2001 album with the same name. That year, it was nominated for a Grammy.

“Rainbow Connection” was not the only song Nelson and Kermit the Frog sang together. They also performed a medley of gospel favorites together. That gospel medley included “Hard To Be Humble,” “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” and “I’ll Fly Away.”

Willie Nelson’s 2024 Schedule

It is unknown if Kermit the Frog will be appearing with the “On The Road Again” singer for all the tour dates Willie Nelson currently has scheduled. In addition to the Luck Reunion Festival, he will be on tour until September. His next tour will be his annual Outlaw Music Festival Tour. That tour will start in Alpharetta, Georgia. It will end in Buffalo, New York on September 17, 2024.

“This year’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour promises to be the biggest and best yet with this lineup of legendary artists,” Willie Nelson stated. “I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love.”

In addition to his touring, Willie Nelson will also be promoting his new album. His new album is titled The Border. This new album will feature 10 new songs from the “Mommas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” singer. Four of those songs were co-written by Willie Nelson and his long-time songwriting collaborator Buddy Cannon.

Tell us what you think. Can you imagine “The Red-Headed Stranger” singing with Kermit the Frog? Did you know “Rainbow Connection” had been nominated for both an Oscar and a Grammy?
