Maren Morris Doesn’t Regret Calling Out Morgan Wallen Or Jason Aldean’s Wife
Maren Morris is one of the most outspoken country music artists in recent years. She’s not afraid of speaking her mind, even if it means going up against some big names in the music industry.
She made headlines in 2021 for her response to the video of Morgan Wallen dropping the n-word. The scandal nearly torpedoed his career, but Maren Morris faced an equal amount of backlash for her response.
According to Us Weekly, Maren Morris tweeted, “We all know it wasn’t his first time using that word. We keep them rich and protected at all costs with no recourse.” about the scandal.
In August 2022, the “Chasing After You” singer got into a social media feud with Jason Aldean’s wife. Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope accused Brittany Aldean of transphobia after she posted that she was glad her parents didn’t change her gender during her childhood tomboy phase.
Brittany Aldean recently shared her side of the feud. During an appearance on Cosmopolitan’s Cheap Shots video series, Maren Morris said that she has no regrets over any of her tweets. She also explained the viral wardrobe malfunction involving a slit in her skirt.
Recounts ‘Scary’ Death Threats Toward Her Son
Maren Morris openly lives her life in the public eye. She came out as bisexual after her divorce from Ryan Hurd. The former couple married in 2018 and welcomed a son in 2020. The “My Church” singer filed for divorce in 2023, and it was finalized a few months later. They share custody of their son, Hayes. The four-year-old often goes on the road with his mom.
The country singer was a guest on Sophia Bush’s Work In Progress podcast recently. Maren previously revealed that she received death threats from Morgan Wallen fans after calling him out.
She admitted to the actress, who is part of the upcoming One Tree Hill reboot, that the situation was “scary” back when it happened. Her son was only a year old at the time.
“I mean, the death threat portion for me as a young mother was obviously scary. And it wasn’t death threats against me. It was against my son, too. So it’s like, ‘Oh, wow. Now we’re involving the kids, the ones that you cared so much about.’”
However, Maren Morris again said that she doesn’t regret the tweets. In fact, she pondered why she got more backlash than he did.
“I don’t regret it, I don’t apologize. I feel the exact same way as I did that day … Don’t be racist. Don’t be transphobic. Don’t be homophobic.”
