Kelly Clarkson can count herself among that select group as well.
Just because you win the first-ever edition of American Idol, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will come across well in other media formats. In Kelly Clarkson’s case, she put that to the test when she decided to launch her own show. Luckily for her, the fan reception has been great, and she has been able to host her talk show since 2019.

Because Kelly has one of the most powerful voices in the industry, seeing her tackle covers of famous songs has been one of the most popular things about her show.
If she has a musical guest on the show, Clarkson will often do a collaboration performance of the guest’s biggest hit. One relatively recent example of this was when viral hitmaker Teddy Swims stopped by the studio. Together, Clarkson and Swims performed a duet of the singer’s viral hit, Lose Control.

Like many viewers, the Kellyoke segments are a favorite among the show staff as well. Recently, Clarkson dropped a viral video on YouTube taking her fans through the entire Kellyoke process, including everything it takes to pull off this fan-favorite segment successfully.
The biggest and most important step is narrowing down which songs to do. The other cool aspect about it is the same band that goes with Clarkson on tour is her house band for the talk show.
So, they already have years of experience playing together and vibing with each other to riff off of. With more than 800 successful Kellyoke segments and counting, the creative team is certainly doing something right.
