Garth Brooks is ready to hang up his cowboy hat. He’s not retiring just yet, but he’s wrapping up his Las Vegas Residency. He reveals what he’ll do next. Keep reading for more.

Why He Opens Vegas Shows With Cover Songs

Garth Brooks has a huge discography at his disposal. However, he opens nearly every show during his recent Las Vegas residency with a cover song. His artists of choice are Bob Seger, Keith Whitley, and Randy Travis. Why doesn’t he start with one of his own songs?

The “Friends In Low Places” singer shared his reasoning during a lengthy interview with USA Today. He said that he uses songs from other artists to get a feel of the crowd before launching into his own versatile discography.

“I think it’s partially because I don’t want to give a Garth song away that early. But we have to soundcheck the room every night, so I pick a Seger or Keith Whitley or Randy Travis song to get a feel of the room, find which spots are hot. If it’s hot where you’re standing, when the band comes on, it’s twice as hot. I like to roam the stage, find the pockets. It’s my way of mapping the room.”

Garth Brooks Done With Vegas Residency

Garth Brooks kicked off his latest Vegas residency in 2023. He extended it once before, but he told USA Today that the residency is ending in 2025, no matter how much he will miss it. “If there was a guy who said I’ll do this the rest of my life, it would be me,” Brooks said.

The residency the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas continues with dates early next year before wrapping up on March 7, 2025. Tickets for the handful of remaining dates go on sale on Thursday, September 19.

The “Much Too Young” singer’s time in Las Vegas isn’t the only thing that’s ending. He announced in July that his Inside Studio G online series is coming to an end later this year.

What’s Next For The Country Music Megastar

Garth Brooks is a huge fan of his wife, Trisha Yearwood. He often brings her on stage during his concerts. But now he wants to put the spotlight directly on her and be her “plus one.” After his Vegas residency ends, he plans to do anything he can to support his wife’s career.

“I think my job for 2025 is to be the plus one. My wife is sweet enough to be there for me every time I need her. I need to return that and we need to hear her more than two songs a night.”

He also has his Nashville bar to tend to. He didn’t shut down the idea of opening a second location in Las Vegas, but said it had to happen organically.

The country music superstar also hopes to record a live album of his last few Las Vegas shows. Did you get a chance to see Garth Brooks in Vegas? Share your experience in the comments.
