Country music icon George Strait racked up 17 Country Music Award wins during his long career. He won Entertainer of the Year three times. Strait was inducted into the Country Hall of Fame in 2006. Now he is set to receive a huge honor at this year’s Country Music Awards. Keep reading to find out how to watch the 2024 CMAs.
Country Music Awards To Honor George Strait
George Strait has had a long and fulfilling career in country music. He continues to make new music and entertain fans during live performances on tour. His latest album, Cowboys And Dreamers, dropped on September 6. It was his 31st studio album and his first in five years.
The country crooner has an extensive collection of awards thanks to his impressive discography. He’ll add another award later this month at the 2024 Country Music Awards. George Strait is this year’s recipient of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. Nelson was obviously the first winner in 2012. It’s not an annual award, but who else has won the honor?
- Willie Nelson (2012)
- Kenny Rogers (2013)
- Johnny Cash (2015)
- Dolly Parton (2016)
- Kris Kristofferson (2019)
- Charley Pride (2020)
- Loretta Lynn (2021)
- Alan Jackson (2022)
George Strait’s 2014 performance at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, holds the record for the largest indoor concert in North America, with 104,793 attendees. He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
According to Taste of Country, George Strait hasn’t confirmed that he will show up to accept the award in person. However, this year’s CMAs are worth the watch regardless.
2024 CMA Performers
Lainey Wilson joins the returning hosts Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning as co-hosts. Bryan and Wilson will pull double duty as performers. Who else will take the stage?
Post Malone performs solo and also joins Chris Stapleton for a rendition of their “California Sober” duet. Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims are slated to perform “Something About A Woman” and “Lose Control.” Other performers include Dierks Bentley, Ashley McBryde, and Molly Tuttle. Shaboozy will perform his number one hit song “A Bar Song (Tipsy.)”
Noticeably absent from the performers is Morgan Wallen, who leads the pack with seven nominations, including Entertainer of the Year. Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, and Chris Stapleton are also up for that award.
