When it comes to big shows like the CMAs, it goes without saying that those most deserving of awards may not always end up with them. Having said that, Red Clay Strays fans are livid following their big snub on country music’s biggest night. So, what are fans of the group saying?

Red Clay Strays Came On Strong

For anyone who may not be familiar with this band, they burst onto the scene in a big way this year, and fans have been taking notice. There have been some iconic country groups over the last handful of decades, and these musicians have quickly made their case as one of the best out there.

Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, the Red Clay Strays are one of the fastest-rising acts anywhere, with songs of theirs going viral on platforms like TikTok, and even charting on Billboard. Their country rock vibe has been resonating with a lot of people, even gaining the attention of those at the CMAs.

Red Clay Stays Were Up For Huge Award At CMAs

Because of how they have essentially caught fire as a group, they were up for a coveted award at this year’s CMAs. They were up for the distinguished honor of getting the Best Vocal Group of the Year prize. They, of course, did have some competition in the form of Little Big Town, Lady A, and more.

More than anything else, many fans hoped that this band would finally beat out Old Dominion and the chokehold they have had on that category for the last handful of years. However, despite their amazing rise, Red Clay Strays lost to the eventual winner, Old Dominion (again), and listeners are not happy about it.

Fans React To CMA Diss

With Old Dominion winning once again after several wins in a row, it’s safe to say that fans are not happy with the results, and many took to various social media platforms to express their disdain over what they see as an obvious slap in the face to a band who deserved the win.

  • One person wrote: “Not that it matters but honest to God, if someone hears The Red Clay Strays and Old Dominion and then decides the latter is better, that person should 1000% be in some type of asylum and/or the meteoroid should end it all. #CMAawards”
  • Another person said: “Old Dominion winning an award over the Red Clay Strays is reason #344592 the #CMAs are a joke.”
  • A third person added: “I’m 100% sure the #CMAawards voters never even listened to Red Clay Strays if they voted for Old Dominion for vocal group of the year.”
