What is the humble way that Dolly Parton and her husband of nearly sixty years, Carl Dean, celebrate their marriage? Humble Way Dolly Parton & Husband Celebrate Marriage
It is very hard to keep a marriage alive, especially in the public eye. Dolly Parton has been married to Carl Dean for nearly sixty years and they are content with what they have. He has openly let her be herself and pursue her dreams which has made her an icon in the process. Yet, Carl is not one to be a part of the fanfare as he prefers to be at home and lay low. That is where they are complete opposites yet it works for them because they respect each other’s wishes.
He attended one big event in 1967, which Dolly begged him to go to with her. She dressed him to the nines and got everything he needed to make it a special night. Though Carl loves music, the scene and being out in the crowd was not for him. Therefore, he respectfully asked Dolly to never make him go to an event like that again and she obliged. They go camping and on road trips, which he loves but he wants to be home ASAP. So, how does the couple manage to celebrate anniversaries if he is a homebody?
According to People, Dolly and Carl love to have humble dates. She shared what they indulge in when she appeared on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast on December 9th:
Even on anniversaries and stuff like that, we usually stay home and make something special.
However, they do not always stay home for their dining pleasure. The couple will go out and have McDonald’s or even enjoy a Mexican restaurant from time to time:
He loves Mexican food, period. But we go, we’ll go sit in a booth, if it’s an anniversary or just sometimes on a Saturday. We know where to go before the crowd comes. He doesn’t like big crowds.
The System Of Happiness
Dolly Parton and Carl Dean are very different, that is a fact, but they have found the system of happiness. They know when and where to comfortably have dates. More so, she does not pressure him to do anything he does not feel is right for him. They enjoy life together and that is what matters. When he got sick, Dolly took a step back from her career but only slightly. She continued with other endeavors such as a makeup line, a jewelry collaboration, and a cookbook with her sister, Rachel. Still, Carl and her marriage will always come first. She loves Carl just the way that he is no matter how different the two are.
