Country Icon Turned Down Super Bowl Halftime Show
Performing in the Super Bowl halftime show is a coveted spot that many utilize and have a blast doing. They can take the time to make whatever statement they would like, bring on special guests, or make big announcements. During the 2023 halftime show, Rihanna announced that she was expecting her second baby with ASAP Rocky. The year prior, Dr. Dre reunited with Eminem for his show, and fans went wild. Now, Bad Bunny will perform on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, and viewers are torn. He made a bold political statement at the Grammys, which aired on February 1st, 2026, so this could be hit or miss.
Jelly Roll has already stated that he wants a Nashville, Tennessee Super Bowl with a full-on country halftime show. However, a country icon has been repeatedly asked to perform and keeps declining. Dolly Parton is someone that everyone seems to love. Yet, she does not want to do the show, as she shared in 2023. Per the actress and singer, she had some reservations that held her back:
Oh, sure. I’ve been offered that many times, I couldn’t do it because of other things, or I just didn’t think I was big enough to do it — to do that big of a production. When you think about those shows, those are big, big productions. I’ve never done anything with that big of a production. I don’t know if I could have. I think at the time that’s what I was thinking.
Clearly, Dolly is beyond worthy of performing, and many believe that she would unite the world. Right now, there are two shows happening during the big game. However, if Miss Parton took on the halftime show, everyone would be tuned in to see what and who she would bring in.

Dolly Parton has been allegedly struggling with her health as she approached her eightieth birthday. The multi-Grammy winner postponed several shows so that she could take care of herself. Again, she has turned down the Super Bowl halftime show many times. Yet, if she knew she could unite a divided country, would that change her mind? That is up in the air, but it is worth a shot, and maybe worth asking her.
