Brantley Gilbert and Jelly Roll have admittedly struggled in their lives, which could be why they are such great storytellers. Now, Brantley has a new single coming out with Jelly, which was inspired by the latter’s heartbreak. Keep reading for more details on how the song came to be.
Jelly Roll Helped Brantley’s Single Come To Fruition
Over the last month, Jelly Roll’s divorce from Bunnie Xo has come to light and played out for fans to witness. He filed in May 2026, but it was kept under lock and key. Then, the media caught wind of it, and it was soon everywhere. Everyone wanted to know what went wrong, and the truth is, fans may never know the exact truth. He struggled for a very long time to get to where he is today, but he seems happy and grateful, which is beautiful to see. The same goes for Brantley Gilbert, who battled addiction but has come out the other side.

The two men recently got together to work on a song for Brantley’s new album, Sins of the Father. It came out on Friday, July 24th, and fans were more than ready for it. The single that they collaborated on is entitled “Begging for Change,” and it was inspired by a heartbreaking moment Jelly went through. He was headed to the studio to be with Brantley when he saw a homeless man. However, it was not just any man, but rather someone that he had gone to high school with. Brantley explained what happened in detail and how it impacted the songwriting:
Jelly Roll came in to the write one day, and I could tell he was a little heavy [emotionally]. We stepped outside to smoke, and I was like, ‘Hey man, you good?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, I had an event this morning for the label.’
As Jelly Roll went on, he explained that this kid was least likely to be homeless. So, that weighed heavy on his heart. He further noted that the man he saw was that kid in school who always had the newest toy. It was proof that addiction does not discriminate. Thus the single was born.
Already Obsessed
Since the single was released, fans have been obsessed. They have nothing but praise for Jelly Roll and Brantley Gilbert for the way that they executed the song:
