To say that country crooner Blake Shelton has a lot going on would be an understatement. Blake has been in the industry for over 20 years as evidenced by his hit song “Austin.” Since then, he’s become one of the faces of The Voice. Consequently, that’s where he met his fiancé, Gwen Stefani. Recently, Blake released his first album in a very long time. Keep reading to find out Blake Shelton’s thoughts on touring.

Why Blake Shelton almost had a drastic shift in his career

Taste of Country reports on a recent interview where Blake Shelton divulges that there “was a time when he’d lost interest in touring.” Understandably, this may come as a shock to some on the heels of his 2021 Friends and Heros Tour. However, there doesn’t seem to be cause for alarm. According to reports, these feelings stem from 2012.

Apparently, 2012 is a pivotal moment in Blake Shelton’s career. Strange to think that he was going into his second season of The Voice at this time. Not only that, but he was trying to coach on the show and balance touring. In an interview with Today’s Country Radio on Apple Music Country, he tells Kelleigh Bannen the following. “I was touring full time or as much as I could, and it became too much, it was too much for me personally.” At one point, he didn’t have a day off. That’s when he came to a sad realization. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, what is the point, what are we doing? I’m not enjoying it anymore.’”

Blake makes adjustments so that he’s still happy

Luckily, with this realization, Blake adjusted his schedule. Since 2013, he shares that he only plays about 25 shows a year. Interestingly enough, he also shares that’s less than most artists. “That’s obviously not very many for any artist that is trying to maintain that touring profile,” explains the country music star. By making this change, Blake confirms that he’s still excited about going on stage.

Blake Shelton is gearing up to go back on tour on August 18th. In the meantime, fans can stream his new album (May 21) Body Language.
