Country superstar Jason Aldean was forced to delay a concert Saturday night in Massachusetts. What happened to cause the delay and did he ever make it to the stage? Keep reading to find out what is known and what ended up happening.
Jason Aldean delays show
Jason Aldean has been going through a ton of controversy over one of his hit songs lately. “Try That In A Small Town” has gained national attention as many claim the song has racial undertones. It was fueled more by images shown in the video which have since been removed.
Is the song why his show was delayed? Fortunately, although the song has caused some heated debates, the weather caused this lengthy delay. Jason was set to hit the stage in Mansfield, Massachusetts at the Xfinity Center at 7:30 pm ET. This didn’t happen. Xfinity Center made an announcement and put out a Tweet shortly after 6 pm that said fans must evacuate.
The tweet said, “Safety is our #1 priority at Xfinity Center. Due to severe weather & approaching lightning, we are evacuating the venue at this time. Calmly proceed to the exit and take shelter in your vehicles. For those using rideshare, please head to Lot 1.”
Jason Aldean shared the post about the delay on his Instagram as well.
At almost 7 pm another tweet was sent out saying, “Update: If you are still in the venue, please seek shelter. Do not attempt to evacuate. We are still under a shelter-in-place with the hope to continue the show once it is safe.”
At almost 7:30 pm the venue put out another announcement indicating a decision would soon be made if they could continue the show or not.
Finally, at about 7:35 pm another announcement was issued. It said, “GOOD NEWS! Tonight’s Jason Aldean concert will continue! Doors are open now. Please make your way to the gates and have your tickets open on your phone and ready for scanning to help ease entry back into the venue. Jason Aldean will be on stage at 10:00 PM.”

This wasn’t the first issue
The news of this delay came just a week after Jason Aldean was forced to reschedule another show due to weather. His concern scheduled for the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on July 21 was postponed until September 17 due to a severe storm that went through Northeast Ohio.
He also ended a concert abruptly on July 17 in Hartford, Connecticut when he ran off the stage with heat exhaustion. That show was also rescheduled.
The show went on after that and Aldean fans got to see him sing all his hits.
