For Kelsea Ballerini fans, as well as fans of music in general, new music from your favorite artist is always a welcome thing. However, new music obtained through nefarious methods like hacking is a different story, especially when the artists themselves have not officially released said music.
This is exactly the situation Kelsea Ballerini is in, and, she recently took legal action to remedy the situation. So, what else do we know about it?
Kelsea Ballerini Has Had A Lot Going On
As one of the prominent names in country music today, Kelsea Ballerini is a busy woman. When she is not on the road, in the studio working on new music, or attending some type of function, she does other things that keep her well-occupied. Recently, she hosted the 2024 CMT Awards.
Ballerini has taken on hosting duties for country music’s big event for the last few years. However, there was something different about the festivities this time around. 2024 marked the first year that she hosted the event solo. They even pre-recorded her performance so that it would not interfere with her emceeing the big event.
Ballerini In The Middle Of Legal Battle
When you’re popular like Kelsea Ballerini is, you get used to dealing with paparazzi and the occasional rambunctious fan. However, based on the latest updates about the Love Me Like You Mean It singer, she is dealing with a completely different kind of situation.
It turns out, an alleged hacker is accused of illegally obtaining and sharing “still-in-production, unreleased masters and demos” that Ballerini has been working on, according to PEOPLE.
Of course, anyone who was around during the Napster and LimeWire days knows that this was a primary way for people to obtain new music and other media without paying for it. In this case, an individual named Bo Ewing has been accused of leaking Kelsea Ballerini’s music.
Country Singer Takes Legal Action Against Alleged Hacker
An artist’s music getting leaked like this easily results in a loss of revenue and more. Amid this latest leak, Kelsea Ballerini is taking legal action to protect herself and her art from further damage. The singer has filed for a temporary restraining order against Bo Ewing in the aftermath of the hack.
Bo Ewing is described as a “disenfranchised” former member of Ballerini’s fan club. In addition to filing the temporary restraining order, Ballerini and Black River Entertainment have also secured an injunction to “protect the recordings” moving forward.

Speaking on the matter, a spokesperson recently told PEOPLE: “Protection of an artist’s music is of the utmost importance. Artists spend countless hours perfecting their craft and telling their stories through their music. Stealing and sharing unfinished music is illegal and harms the integrity of the creative process.”
