Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson are two of the hardest workers in the industry. Along with that, they seem to have a bit of a friendly rivalry going on regarding which one of them works harder. So, what did both country music heavy hitters have to say?
Jelly Roll Is Keeping His Momentum Going
After the breakout year that Jelly Roll had in 2023, no one would blame him if he chose to coast into 2024 and rest on his recent accolades. However, after how many years it took Jelly to climb to the top, he is not letting anything stop him from continuing his success, even if that means working harder than his peers to achieve his goals.
When it comes to work ethic and keeping the train rolling, Jelly Roll recognizes that same fire and tenacity in fellow country artist, Lainey Wilson. Jelly Roll recently recalled running into Lainey Wilson back in 2023. At the time, her schedule was overly full, flying from one city to the next back-to-back to play a mix of concerts and corporate shows.
Back then, Jelly said of Wilson: “This girl was running on fumes. Her work ethic is next level.”
Lainey Wilson Praises Jelly For Similar Approach
It turns out, Lainey Wilson isn’t the only one used to burning the midnight oil. Wilson recently responded to Jelly Roll’s comments about her, saying: “I’ll take it. But I will say, you know, if Jelly Roll don’t beat me with the whole work ethic thing, I think he comes in a close second, ’cause he’s always somewhere.”
Even if keeping a full schedule may at times feel like there aren’t enough hours in a day, and even though artists like Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson may work themselves beyond exhaustion at times, Lainey is grateful, and she knows what she and Jelly signed up for.
Wilson went on to say: “But it’s fun, this is what we asked for, and I feel so blessed and lucky to be a part of what’s happening right now.”
Two Of The Hardest Workers In The Room Collaborated In The Past
It seems Wilson and Jelly have a bit of a friendly competition going on in terms of who can outwork the other. Of course, this isn’t the first time Jelly and Lainey have been brought up in the same breath, either. The pair worked together in the past, singing a duet of Jelly’s hit, Save Me.
That collaboration scored the duo a number-one hit on the Billboard U.S. Country Airplay chart. The tandem even scored a Grammy nomination at the 2024 ceremony for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
With the way that both Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson keep to the grind, many listeners hope they will work together again in the future.
