Football fans everywhere know what it means when Carrie Underwood’s voice comes on. Her instantly recognizable song intro prepares for Sunday Night Football, the game that’s typically the best matchup of the day. Underwood’s song has become synonymous with NFL games for fans since 2015 when she first sang an intro for NBC. Each song is slightly different, based on who’s playing that game. Many fans know the beat that comes along with Underwood’s bop. Recent reports came out that Underwood makes roughly $18 million per season doing the Sunday Night Football intro song, $1 million per week. She shot that down recently with Howard Stern. So how much does she actually make?

Carrie Underwood Makes Far Less Than You’d Expect

According to Underwood herself, she does the Sunday Night Football intro song “pro bono.” If that’s the case, both the NFL and NBC should be ashamed of themselves. Underwood deserves to make a minimum of $1 million per week, as it’s nearly impossible to think about Sunday Night Football without immediately also having her voice pop into your brain. Sadly though, the NFL has been known to sell short on their musical entertainment.

For instance, those who perform at the Super Bowl halftime shows don’t get paid, either. In fact, the performers have to pay out of their own pockets for the sets they use, the dancers they work with, and anything else that goes on during the show. The only reason musicians agree to this is because they see a huge uptick in their song revenue and other business ventures. While the benefits far outweigh the cost of putting on a show, the principle of not being paid at least something by a billion-dollar entity is mind-boggling.

How Much Is Carrie Underwood Worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Underwood is worth a cool $120 million. She clearly doesn’t need the money, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that she absolutely deserves it for being part of something so iconic and recognizable. After taking home the title of American Idol in Season 4, Underwood has branched out beyond the music industry. Aside from singing, she’s a noteworthy author, fashion designer, and actress.

It’s clear Underwood is accepting of her situation with NBC, though. Her salary never was a topic of conversation in the last decade prior to the incorrect report coming out. She’ll likely always stay relevant in the music industry, even if she never releases another new song. Folks hear her voice at least once a week for roughly half the year, including during the NFL playoffs. This is the best long-term scenario for Underwood. She’ll probably continue singing the Sunday Night Football intro for years to come, as she’s shown no signs of wanting to stop.
