Jelly Roll has just given some inmates the gift of a lifetime. He frequently makes stops at prisons to let those who are incarcerated know they do not have to go backward. Rather, they can take their passions and dreams, and focus to propel themselves into a better life on the outside. So, what did Jelly give these particular inmates that was so magical? Keep reading for more details.

Jelly Roll Gives Inmates Gift Of A Lifetime

Whenever Jelly Roll is on the road, he will make stops and is constantly giving back. He had someone groom his dog and in return, gave them backstage passes. Furthermore, he will see young entrepreneurs and donate generously. There was a lemonade stand when he first launched his Beautifully Broken Tour. Kids were selling on the side of the road and he stopped, being so proud of what they were doing. He proceeded to give them $700 toward their business because that is just who he is. More so, he got into a lot of trouble starting as a young teen so to see these children making money the legal way was a breath of fresh air.

Finally, Jelly will make it a point to stop at jails and detention centers. He has completely transformed his life and wants the inmates to see that all hope is not lost. They can come out swinging just like he did though it took him years to get on a straight path. He has spoken in front of Congress and wants to leave the world a better place than how he found it. That being said, he just gave an amazing gift to a handful of inmates. According to Parade, Jelly dropped by a Virginia prison.

There, the inmates sang for him and it was so moving, he had them attend his show. He then shared the experience with his fans on stage:

I began to cry and weep in this cell with all these men, and these women, that were in there singing their soul out. They were singing all of my new album. I left there, and I couldn’t quit thinking about it. I said ‘I know this sounds crazy, but I never got a chance to see if the dream could be real. Would you please bring those inmates to the show tonight so they can see the dream?’

Additionally, Jelly wanted to pay for all the expenses incurred but he also did not want them there in prison garb and shackles. He wanted them to blend in and feel like they were regular concertgoers.

It Gets Better

Jelly Roll did not just want them to attend the show. He then asked for the inmates to come on the stage and perform with him, saying: “if anybody believes in second chances, it’s a f——g Jelly Roll show.” Fans who saw this were once again amazed by his kind heart and warm spirit:

  • We made the right person famous guys
  • “You ain’t gotta stand in the back anymore this is time to stand up front” he’s literally such a sweet soul 🥹🥹
  • To find a county jail that actually does those things is amazing and so heartbreaking.

Even those who didn’t know his music appreciated Jelly as a human being because what he was doing was amazing. This is something these men will never forget and neither will the audience or Jelly.
