Country icon Tanya Tucker is the consummate professional and an even better friend. She just ditched the emergency room in order to honor a fellow legend, but what was wrong with her? Moreover, who was more important than her health? Keep reading for more details.
Tanya Tucker Left Her Health in the Rearview Mirror
One thing about Tanya Tucker is that nothing is going to stand in her way. The sixty-eight-year-old Texas native has been performing since she was 13. In fact, that was when she had her first hit with “Delta Dawn” and just keeps going. The two-time Grammy Award winner has gained the ultimate respect from fans as well as industry peers. Yet, she feels the same about her colleagues and would do anything for them.
Recently, Tanya was in Costa Rica when disaster struck. She made it clear that she was not intoxicated but had fallen down a flight of stairs. The singer headed back to Texas, and that was where she sought medical help. After her visit, she learned the fall was extremely serious and far worse than she ever expected:
I was in Costa Rica about three days ago and no alcohol involved, but I fell down a flight of stairs. So I got x-rays when I got back to Texas and I called and got the results yesterday and they said, ‘Go to your nearest ER.’ So I said, ‘I ain’t got time for that.’
She noted that she had internal bleeding and collapsed lungs. Yet, the reason why Tanya Tucker opted out of emergency intervention was her friend Paul Overstreet. He was being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and she was set to help honor him. In the end, she had this to say:
I would not miss this opportunity for one of my best friends to Paul Overstreet
Must Protect Tanya
After hearing what she had been through, fans wanted to bubble wrap Tanya Tucker. She is one of a kind, and after Dolly Parton passing, the thought of losing Tanya was too much:
