Dolly Parton passed away on August 25th, 2026, and fans were shocked by this news. They knew that she had been sick, but this was completely unexpected. One person who was also blown away was her close friend, Reba McEntire. As it turned out, Dolly had phoned Reba before her passing, but it went unanswered. Dolly Parton Tried To Reach Out To Reba
For decades, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton have been very close friends. They had a mutual respect for one another, but there was a running joke. Reba opened up about some interesting parts of their friendship that no one could quite understand. She told Bravo’s very own Andy Cohen that she never met Dolly’s now-late husband, Carl Dean, whom she was married to for sixty years. Additionally, Dolly had never invited her to her house or cooked for her, and she was praised for her culinary delights.
When Dolly passed away, it rocked the world, and it did not matter who you were. Her death united everyone, regardless of politics, religion, etc. Although it was clear that she was sick, no one knew how bad it was. She was battling cancer, but kept it private as she did not want anyone to worry about her. However, she did phone Reba McEntire a month before her death, but Reba did not answer:
She did call me the last of July, and I was in a meeting and I missed her call. I tried to get back in touch with her and I couldn’t; never made connection.
Then, Reba got the call about Dolly Parton’s death, and she realized she would never know why her friend called. Fortunately, she was able to pay tribute to her at the Emmys.
Reba Will Know One Day
It may take some time, but Reba McEntire believes that she will know why Dolly Parton called all in good time:
I’ll find out one day. What a blessing she was for all of us.
When Reba performed on the Emmys, it was a beautiful moment. She donned a butterfly ring in honor of her close friend, and fans were struck by the performance:
