Country music is a lot about heartbreak, alcohol, sadness, loss, and everything in between. In 2006, Miranda Lambert was in her early twenties when she met Blake Shelton, and they fell in love. Four years after they started dating, the two became engaged. In 2011, the two tied the knot in a down-home wedding, but in 2015, the marriage ended. He moved on with his fellow Voice coach, Gwen Stefani, who had been married to Gavin Rossdale. Miranda found love along the way, but in 2019, she shocked everyone by sharing that she married police officer Brendan McLoughlin.

Despite her happiness, Miranda has opened up about how hard her divorce from Blake was. That time in her life was particularly disruptive, and she was not in her right mind. However, she took her trauma and turned it into gold:

And when I moved back in 2015, I gathered up all of my friends and relationships from, you know, all of the previous years and just used it, used the misery. I used the staying out too late at honky-tonks. I used what I was living and my friends went on that journey with me — friends being songwriters — and I think I wrote 75 songs in like, a year. I mean, in like, the first four months I moved back.

Miranda Lambert admitted that she grew as a singer and a songwriter, becoming even better at her craft. The result was The Weight Of These Wings, which landed at number 1 on the country charts. Moreover, it solidified her as an artist to be reckoned with. She shared all of these intimate details on the And the Writer Is… podcast.
