Jelly Roll is opening up about his feelings on the Miranda Lambert selfie debacle and quite honestly, he’s torn. Many performers have weighed in on the incident since it happened. Most have been on the side of the fans yet this is one of those times where JR seems to understand both sides of the coin. So, what exactly did he have to say? Read on for more details.
Jelly Roll Torn On Miranda Lambert Selfie Debacle
A few weeks back, Miranda Lambert called out a few concertgoers for taking a selfie at one of her shows. They were so embarrassed by what she had done. Plus, they were not kids or teenagers, they were grown women who just wanted to capture a quick moment. It was the public shaming that seemed to rub many the wrong way. To add to this, a video of Miranda popping a beach ball that had been floating around her concert started circulating. So, it made her seem like she just was not any fun when that is probably not the case. Artists such as Jana Kramer and LL Cool J weighed in on the situation.
They believed that Miranda Lambert needed to either chill out or have a better approach to the situation. Now, Jelly Roll has entered the chat and he has had a mixed reaction to the situation. According to Taste Of Country, he understands both Miranda and the patrons. Admittedly, he does not like seeing what Lambert is going through via social media. However, he added: “I understand the ladies wanting to take the picture, too.” The biggest issue for Jelly Roll, as an artist, was that Miranda was singing a truly deep and meaningful song, “Tin Man.”
“I don’t know how she feels when she sings ‘Tin Man.’ I know when I sing ‘She’ on stage I am fighting everything in my soul not to cry — she might be like that when she sings ‘Tin Man’ or ‘The House That Built Me.’ You don’t know how emotionally unstable some of these songs will make an artist,” Jelly Roll explained.
Song Choice Matters
So, would choosing a different song to take a selfie have made a difference to Miranda Lambert? This is entirely possible. It could have or she may have just wanted them to focus on the show. Jelly Roll believes that Miranda Lambert is an inherently good person and would never want to cause anyone any harm. That is just not her nature. Then again, he knows that the girls just wanted to have fun at the show they paid for so, again, he really is torn over the situation. Plus, he admits that wild things have happened at his shows, including items thrown at him so at this point, nothing fazes him.
